India Gives Pea Importers More Time

DELHI - Feb 26/24 - SNS - India has given a small extension to the deadline for imports of yellow peas.

Consignments registered under the country's import monitoring system will be permitted as long as on board bills of lading are issued on or before April 30, 2024.

The Directorate General of Foeign Trade will allow imports without a minimum import price and without port restrictions.

Official data shows India imported 10,980 metric tons (MT) of peas in December, with several cargoes from Canada, Russia and other origins are enroute and/or have arrived since January 1. Some importers believe purchases will exceed one million MT.
