India Remains Net Chickpea Exporter
PANAMA - Feb 16/24 - SNS -- International chickpea markets maintained their quiet tone through the past week, though movements into export markets has been relatively good for most origins.
India remained a net exporter of chickpeas during the 2023 calendar year even though there was a significant increase in total imports last year from around 82,850 metric tons (MT) in 2022 to just over 223,800 MT last year.
Tanzania remained India's main supplier last year shipping just under 130,000 MT, followed by Sudan at 67,800 and Canada at 7,100 MT.
