Mixed Mood In Chickpeas

PANAMA - Sep 15/23 - SNS -- North American chickpea markets finished the week's trading on a firmer note, with the latest prodction estimates for the United States and Canada having little impact on the attitudes of processors and exporters.

Output in the United States was pegged at roughly 224,900 metric tons (MT) from 380,300 acres, up significantly from last year's 165,900 MT harvest from 353,100 acres.

Residual stocks from the 2022-23 marketing year are thought to total 22,000 MT, up from 3,000 a year ago, with the result the available supply of domestically produced chickpeas likely jumped from 168,900 to 246,900 MT.
