WASHINGTON - Aug 11/23 - SNS -- Rice production is forecast at 203,640 million cwt (100 pounds units), up 27% from 2022, according to the USDA.
Area for harvest is expected to total 2.65 million acres, unchanged from the Acreage report but up 22% from last year. Based on August 1 conditions, yields are expected to average 7,699 pounds per acre, up 316 pounds per acre from last year. If realized this will be the second highest yield on record behind 2021.
