WASHINGTON - Jun 30/23 - SNS --Farmers in the United States planted a record high 2.28 million acres of canola, up 3% from last year's planted area, according to the USDA seeded area estimates.
Area for harvest is forecast at 2.24 million acres, up 3% from last year.
Planted area in North Dakota, the leading canola-producing State, is up 6% from last year and is the highest area on record. Planted area in Washington, at 155,000 acres, is a record high and the area forecast for harvest in the State will be a record high, if realized.
Compared with last year, planted area is down more than 10% in Minnesota and Montana, and down more than 60% in Kansas and Oklahoma. Both planted and harvested area will be a record low in Kansas and Oklahoma, if realized.
