PANAMA - May 19/23 - SNS -- Chickpea markets were virtually unchanged in seasonally light trading activity and ongoing doubts about global production levels for kabuli types.
There is a growing sense that competition for available demand could be less intense during the last half of the 2023 calendar year and opening weeks of 2024 than initially expected.
This is fuelled by doubts about production levels in North America and Argentina. The slow pace of seeding the Canadian crop could put more land at risk of poor weather later in the growing season of during harvest; while doubts are being expressed about Argentina's production potential this year
