Mixed Week For Lentils

PANAMA - May 19/23 - SNS -- North American lentil markets posted a mixed finish during the past week, with greens showing some underlying firmness, while reds were somewhat easier.

Market attention is shifting rapidly toward new crop now that seeding is advancing at a reasonable pace in Canada and the United States.

Canada started the week with 50% of the crop in the ground. Farmers in Saskatchewan indicated seeding had reached the halfway point as the week got underway, while Alberta reported 47% of its acreage was in the ground.
