Birdseeds Somewhat Easier

PANAMA - May 19/23 - SNS -- Birdseed ingredient markets continued to exhibit a moderately easy undertone as markets grow more confident about seeding progress and shift attention to new crop.

Sunflower crops are always sown later in the season, but progress is being reported in white proso millet in most production areas in the United States. This contributed to widening spreads in spot bids in the producing area.

An estimated 30% of the Canadian canaryseed crop was in the ground as the week got underway, up from 30% last year, but behind the previous five year average of 57% in the ground by the middle of May.
