Chickpeas Retain Firm Tone

PANAMA - Mar 17/23 - SNS -- Chickpea markets maintained their firm tone during the past week, helped by relatively good disappearance in both Canada and the United States and doubts about participation in markets by other origins.

As a result, there are general expectations Canada will see a significant in crease in seeded area this year. By, contrast, while there is a sense area will also rise in the United States, there are reports of grower resistance in parts of the growing area.

Markets will pay close attention to the USDA's seeding intentions for the crop on March 31. If growers in states like Montana and North Dakota are determined to increase plantings, this will be seen as a proxy for what will happen in Canada.
