PANAMA - Jan 16/23 - SNS -- North American lentil markets were moderately surprised by the final production estimates from the USDA for 2022.
Output was increased from the September forecast of 220,000 metric tons (MT) from 670,000 acres to 249,000 MT from 660,000 acres, compared to 155,000 MT from 708,000 acres in 2021.
This is expected to result in an available supply of 350,000 MT this season, assuming imports come in around 96,000 MT, down from almost 113,000 last season.
