Desi Chickpeas Continue To Strengthen

PANAMA - Nov 11/22 - SNS -- Kabuli chickpea markets closed out the week largely unchanged, while desi chickpeas continued to firm over growing doubts about quality and yields with the Australian harvest.

Markets are also receiving underlying support from improved short term demand from destinations such as Pakistan.

Market participants in Australia worry that this year's harvest will be closer to 455,000 metric tons (MT) than the 621,000 forecast by ABARES in September. There is keen interest in the official Australian estimates expected on December 6.
