WASHINGTON - Oct 19/20 - SNS -- The dry edible bean harvest in the United States is winding down in most states, judging from the latest state level reports.
The harvest is now 97% complete, compared to 68% at this time last year and the recent five year average of 87%.
Growers in Michigan had a tough week because of rains and frost events, but made solid progress despite the problems, with 91% of that state's crop now in the bin, compared to 64% last year and the recent average of 80%.
This year's chickpea harvest is now complete, compared to 93% at the same time last year.
