Spring Wheat Seedings Drop 4%



WASHINGTON - Jun 30/20 - SNS --Seedings of spring wheat other than durum is estimated at 12.2 million acres, down 4% from 2019, according to the USDA's seeded area estimate for 2020. Of this total, about 11.5 million acres are Hard Red Spring wheat.

Compared with last year, acreage increases are expected in all spring wheat-estimating States, except Minnesota and North Dakota. Planted area in North Dakota, the largest spring wheat-producing State, is estimated at 6.00 million acres, down 10% from last year. Planted area in South Dakota is a record low for the State.
