Solid Jump In Aussie Pulse Output

PANAMA - Jun 11/20 - SNS -- Production of the major pulses grown in Australia is expected to jump 44% above last year, reaching 2.353 million metric tons (MT), according to the latest production estimates from the Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics and Sciences (ABARES).

Output is expected to rise for all categories of pulses, with chickpeas leaping from 281,000 to 661,000 MT, while lupins advance from 475,000 to 650,000, fababeans from 327,000 to 402,000 MT, lentils from 335,000 to 381,000 and peas from 219,000 to 259,000 MT.

Total production remains behind the recent five year average of 2.775 million MT. Of all the major categories of pulses, only fababeans is expected to rise above its recent average. The biggest drop from average was recorded by chickpeas, followed by lupins.
