LITTLE ROCK - Oct 13/15 - SNS -- The latest weekly rice market summary for the United States was released by the USDA today.
National Weekly Rice Summary (Arkansas-Louisiana-Texas-California) Domestic Trend In the south, long grain milled rice prices trading firm to 2.00 higher with full advance in Arkansas; medium grain milled rice prices mostly steady. Parboiled prices steady to 2.00 higher, Second heads steady to 1.00 higher and Brewers rice prices steady to firm with advances in Arkansas only. Rice by-products: Rice Bran prices steady to 15.00 higher; Millfeed and ground hull prices mostly steady to firm on limited spot sales. Throughout the south, the field yields are very uneven from farm to farm also resulting in mixed milling yields and quality. As the rough rice futures continue to rally and the market tries to find a top, farmer's asking prices also continue to rise. In California, medium grain milled rice prices trading steady to weak, instances 1.00 lower. Second heads and Brewers rice prices mostly steady. Rice by-products: Rice Bran prices mostly steady; ground hull prices not well tested. Majority are hoping for a wet fall to bring much need moisture however drought conditions still exist throughout the state. CME Rough Rice settlements for Friday Oct 9th, Nov 15 closed .005 higher at 12.995; Jan 16 closed .01 higher at 13.285; Mar 16 closed .005 higher at 13.555. US dollar index on Friday settled at 94.89.
