LITTLE ROCK - Apr 27/15 - SNS -- The latest weekly rice market summary for the United States was released by the USDA today.
National Weekly Rice Summary (Arkansas-Louisiana-Texas-California) Domestic Trend In the south, long grain milled rice prices steady to weak. Medium grain milled rice prices fully steady. Parboiled, Second heads and Brewers rice prices steady to weak. Rice by-products: rice bran prices mostly steady, few 5.00 to 10.00 lower; millfeed prices mostly 5.00 lower and ground hulls prices mostly steady. As of April 26 according to NASS, new crop planting progress is as follows LA 85%, TX 64%, MS 49% and AR 37%. All states were below the 5 yr average. In California, medium grain milled rice prices steady to 3.00 lower with the full decline off the low side of price range. Second heads and Brewers rice prices 2.00 lower. Rice by-products: rice bran prices mostly steady; rice hull prices not full established. Mills continue steady operations however they must ration available patty rice as to take them into new crop harvest. Drought conditions still exist with water restrictions in place throughout the state. As of April 26 according to NASS, California shows 7% planted which is par with the 5 yr average. CME Rough Rice settlements for Friday Apr 24th, May 15 closed .08 lower at 9.980; Jly 15 closed .06 lower at 10.23; Sep 15 closed .055 lower at 10.495. US dollar index on Friday settled at 96.86.
