U.S. National Weekly Rice Summary

LITTLE ROCK - Aug 4/14 - SNS -- The latest weekly rice market summary for the United States was released by the USDA today.

                       National Weekly Rice Summary

                             Domestic Trend
   In the south, old crop long and medium grain rice prices mostly steady with
limited available inventory; parboiled prices steady; second heads steady; brewers
steady.  Rice by-products:  rice bran prices steady; rice millfeed steady; ground
hulls steady with limited current sales.  Louisiana Rough Rice new crop prices steady
to weak on limited current trades, however majority of producers currently passing.
We are hearing reports of disease and pests floating around in rice fields throughout
the south.  The south does not see anything happen until all states are well into
harvest.
   In California, old crop medium and short grain milled rice prices mostly steady on
limited current sales; second heads and brewers steady.  Rice by-products:  rice bran
and hulls prices steady to weak.  Current old crop trade very light with most
producers waiting until new crop harvest starts.
   On the CME Rough Rice settlements for Friday August 1th, September 2014 closed
.195 lower at 12.79.  November 2014 closed .205 lower at 13.005.  US dollar index on
Friday August 1th settled at 81.33.
