Total Wheat Ouput Down 6%

WASHINGTON - Jan 10/14 - SNS -- Production of all classes of wheat in the United States is estimated at 2.13 billion bushels in 2013, down 6% from 2012, according to the USDA's final production estimates for the 2013 crop.

Grain area totaled 45.2 million acres, down 8% from the previous year. The United States yield is estimated at a record high of 47.2 bushels per acre, up 0.9 bushel from the previous year.

The levels of production and changes from 2012 by type are winter wheat, 1.53 billion bushels, down 7%; other spring wheat, 534 million bushels, down 2%, and Durum wheat, 61.9 million bushels, down 25%.
