ST. JOSEPH - Jan 10/14 - SNS -- The USDA issued its latest weekly national grain market review, covering the period through Jan 10.
WEEKLY NATIONAL GRAIN MARKET REVIEW Compared to last week, grain and soybean bids were mixed as traders look to be squaring up against Fridays USDA Report. Corn crop looks to get bigger and ethanol is seeing increased supplies. More rain is expected in South America as outlook for crops is expected to be very good is keeping pressure on grain prices. However, grain basis saw an increase due to slow producer selling which lend a boost. The cold weather across the nation put a hamper on transportation as some areas saw heavy snow and chilling temperatures early in the week. Corn had weekly export sales below expectations at 175,600 tonnes with 155,300 tonnes for 2013-2014 marketing year. Soybeans had weekly export sales of 156,200 tonnes with 155,500 tonnes for 2013-2014 for 2013-2014 market year. Wheat had weekly export sales of 294,800 tonnes with 11,800 tonnes for 2013-2014 marketing year. Wheat was 18 cents lower to 2.14 higher. Corn was mostly 5-13 cents lower. Sorghum was 15 cents lower. Soybeans were mostly 13-18 cents higher. WHEAT: Kansas City US No 1 Hard Red Winter, ordinary protein rail bid was 7 3/4 to 22 3/4 cents higher from 7.44-8.04 per bushel. Kansas City US No 2 Soft Red winter rail bid was not quoted. St. Louis truck US No 2 Soft Red Winter terminal bid was 18 cents lower at 6.14 per bushel. Minneapolis and Duluth US No 1 Dark Northern Spring, 14.0 to 14.5 percent protein rail, was 1.24 to 2.14 higher from 10.19 1/4-10.24 1/4 per bushel. Portland US Soft White wheat rail was 2 3/4 to 12 3/4 cents lower from 6.79 1/4-6.84 1/4 per bushel. CORN: Kansas City US No 2 rail White Corn was 5 to 6 cents lower from 4.59- 4.65 per bushel. Kansas City US No 2 truck Yellow Corn was 1/2 cent lower to 3 1/2 cents higher at 4.22 per bushel. Omaha US No 2 truck Yellow Corn was 7 to 12 cents lower from 4.04-4.09 per bushel. Chicago US No 2 Yellow Corn was 5 1/2 to 13 1/2 cents lower from 3.95-4.11 per bushel. Toledo US No 2 rail Yellow corn was 7 1/2 to 8 1/2 cents lower from 3.95-3.98 per bushel. Minneapolis US No 2 Yellow corn rail was 7 1/2 cents lower at 3.93 per bushel. OATS AND BARLEY: US 2 or Better oats, rail bid to arrive at Minneapolis 20 day was 43 3/4 cents higher at 4.29 3/4 per bushel. US No 3 or better rail malting Barley, 70 percent or better plump out of Minneapolis was steady at 5.80 per bushel. Portland US 2 Barley, unit trains and Barges-export was not available. SORGHUM: US No 2 yellow truck, Kansas City was 15 cents lower at 7.27 per cwt. Texas High Plains US No 2 yellow sorghum (prices paid or bid to the farmer, fob elevator) was 15 cents lower from 7.09-7.34 per cwt. OILSEEDS: Minneapolis Yellow truck soybeans were 15 3/4 cents higher at 12.35 3/4 per bushel. Illinois Processors US No 1 Yellow truck soybeans were 1 1/4 cents lower to 13 3/4 cents higher from 12.78 3/4-13.08 3/4 per bushel. Kansas City US No 2 Yellow truck soybeans were 18 3/4 cents higher at 13.03 3/4 per bushel. Central Illinois 48 percent Soybean meal, processor rail bid was 3.50 lower to 2.50 higher from 469.30-477.30 per ton.
