USDA National Grain Review

ST. JOSEPH - Jan 3/14 - SNS -- The USDA issued its latest weekly national grain market review, covering the period through Jan 3.

WEEKLY NATIONAL GRAIN MARKET REVIEW
   Compared to last week, grains all started out the New Year trading lower.
Soybeans posted the most declines as persistent rains and favorable growing
conditions in South America, as Brazil is expected to produce a record soybean
crop this year.  A large US corn crop has resulted in substantial declines.
Wheat prices continue to be pressured by large global wheat supplies.   Wheat
was mostly 4-13 cents lower.  Corn traded 2-9 cents lower with Sorghum trading
10-11 cents lower.  Soybeans closed 33-48 cents lower.
   WHEAT:  Kansas City US No 1 Hard Red Winter, ordinary protein rail bid was 8
1/4-13 1/4 cents lower from 7.36 1/4-7.81 1/4 per bushel.  Kansas City US No 2
Soft Red winter rail bid was not quoted.  St. Louis truck US No 2 Soft Red
Winter terminal bid was 4 cents lower at 6.32 per bushel.  Minneapolis and
Duluth US No 1 Dark Northern Spring, 14.0 to 14.5 percent protein rail, was 18
cents lower to 52 cents higher from 8.05 1/4-9.00 1/4 per bushel.  Portland US
Soft White wheat rail was 7-16 cents higher from 6.82-6.97 per bushel.
   CORN:  Kansas City US No 2 rail White Corn was 7 cents lower from 4.64-4.71
per bushel.  Kansas City US No 2 truck Yellow Corn was 5 3/4 cents lower from
4.18 1/2-4.22 1/2 per bushel.  Omaha US No 2 truck Yellow Corn was 2 cents lower
at 4.16 per bushel.  Chicago US No 2 Yellow Corn was 3/4 cents higher to 6 1/4
cents lower from 4.00 1/2-4.24 1/2 per bushel.  Toledo US No 2 rail Yellow corn
was 6 3/4-9 3/4 cents lower from 4.02 1/2-4.06 1/2 per bushel.  Minneapolis US
No 2 Yellow corn rail was 4 3/4 cents lower at 4.00 1/2 per bushel.
   OATS AND BARLEY:  US 2 or Better oats, rail bid to arrive at Minneapolis 20
day was 1 3/4 cents lower at 3.86 per bushel.  US No 3 or better rail malting
Barley, 70 percent or better plump out of Minneapolis was 20 cents lower at 5.80
per bushel.  Portland US 2 Barley, unit trains and Barges-export was not
available.
   SORGHUM:  US No 2 yellow truck, Kansas City was 10 cents lower at 7.42 per
cwt.  Texas High Plains US No 2 yellow sorghum (prices paid or bid to the
farmer, fob elevator) was 10 to 11 cents lower from 7.24-7.49 per cwt.
   OILSEEDS:  Minneapolis Yellow truck soybeans were 48 1/4 cents lower at 12.20
per bushel.  Illinois Processors US No 1 Yellow truck soybeans were 36 3/4-38
3/4 cents lower from 12.80-12.95 per bushel.  Kansas City US No 2 Yellow truck
soybeans were 33 3/4 cents lower at 12.85 per bushel.  Central Illinois 48
percent Soybean meal, processor rail bid was 20.20-31.20 lower from 466.80-
480.80 per ton.  Central Illinois Crude Soybean oil processor bid was 32-57
points lower from 35.80-36.55 cents per pound.
