Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - May 29/10 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Warning Summary at issue time
FLOOD WATCH FOR EAST GIPPSLAND (MITCHELL, TAMBO, SNOWY, CANN and GENOA RIVERS).
Gale warning for Victorian waters between Wilsons Promontory and 60nm east of Gabo Island.
Strong wind warning for Victorian waters between SA-VIC Border and Wilsons Promontory.
Strong wind warning is current for Port Phillip.
Strong wind warning is current for Western Port.
Strong wind warning is current for Gippsland Lakes.
Details of warnings are available on the Bureau's website www.bom.gov.au, by telephone 1300-659-217* or through some TV and radio broadcasts.
Weather Situation
A deepening low pressure system is expected to linger off the central coast of New South Wales during Sunday and Monday. A high pressure ridge will edge towards western Victoria on Monday before moving across the State on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Forecast for the rest of Sunday
Rain areas with locally heavy falls in the southeast. Scattered showers in remaining southern areas becoming isolated inland during the afternoon and evening. Isolated showers possible over the northern plains.. Cool with generally moderate to fresh south to southeast winds, reaching strong at times near the coast and Alps.
Forecast for Monday
Isolated showers in southern and mountain districts, tending more scattered in the far east, contracting to the east and clearing during the evening. Cool to mild with light to moderate southeast to southerly winds.
Forecast for Tuesday
Morning fog patches. Isolated showers near the coast and also in the far east. Cool to mild with light north to northwesterly winds.
Forecast for Wednesday
Isolated showers. Cool to mild with light winds.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Sunday.
