MELBOURNE - Oct 17/19 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A cold front will reach the Nullarbor Plain late morning and then extend northeastwards, to reach a line near Giles to Yunta late evening. A new high will move in south of the Bight on Sunday and then move slowly eastwards. A trough of low pressure will move over the far west late Tuesday. Forecast for the rest of FridayEarly frost patches over the northern agricultural area and far south of the Northeast Pastoral. A slight chance of showers developing about the southern agricultural area, increasing to a medium chance near southern coasts and the Upper South East, and a high chance about the Lower South East, south of the Mount Lofty Ranges and the west of Kangaroo Island. A slight chance of showers and possible thunderstorms in the far northwest, mainly during the afternoon. Areas of raised dust east of the ranges during the afternoon. Cool to mild in the south grading to warm in the north. Light and variable winds, tending fresh to strong northwesterly about southern coasts and becoming fresh and gusty northwest to westerly across the agricultural area during the morning. A cooler, moderate to fresh southwest to southerly change, reaching a line near Giles to Yunta late evening.Saturday 19 OctoberA slight chance of showers over the southern agricultural area, the far southwest of the Flinders district and the south of the Murraylands, contracting to southern coasts and the South East districts by afternoon. A medium to high chance of showers about the Lower South East during the morning with possible small hail. A slight chance of showers and possible thunderstorms in the far northwest. Cool in the south grading to warm in the north and west. Moderate to fresh southwesterly winds, strong at first about the Lower South East coast, tending south to southeasterly in the west.Sunday 20 OctoberEarly frost patches over parts of the Mid North, Flinders and Eyre Peninsula districts. A slight chance of a shower about the Lower South East coast. A possible dry thunderstorm in the far northwest. Cool in the southeast, grading to warm in the far north and far west. Moderate to fresh southwest to southeasterly winds, tending northeasterly in the far west.Monday 21 October Possible early frost about parts of the Murraylands and Upper South East districts. Early fog patches about Kangaroo Island and the South East districts. Moderate southeast to northeasterly winds. Mild near southern coasts grading to warm inland and hot in the far west. Cumulative rainfall totals until midnight Monday are expected to be less than 1 mm over the southern agricultural area, reaching 1 to 3 mm about southern coasts and the Mount Lofty Ranges and 2 to 5 mm about the Lower South East district. Tuesday until ThursdayDry and becoming hotter with northeast to northerly winds ahead of a cooler, moderate to fresh southerly change in the far west late Tuesday then gradually extending across the west and south during Wednesday and Thursday. A slight to medium chance of showers developing about the agricultural area on Thursday following the change.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm CDT Friday.Product IDS10033 Notice Board 31 additional forecast locations for SA Changes to state Weather and Warnings pages --> BoM is upgrading its IT systems in South Australia on Tuesday 5 December 2017.
