Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 20/18 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A 1030 hPa high pressure system centred south of Tasmania will continue to move eastwards and weaken today. Ex-Tropical Cyclone Kelvin over the north of Western Australia is expected to continue to move south to southeastwards to be over the Bight on Thursday then move towards Tasmania on Friday. A cold front will move across southern coasts on Saturday then a high pressure system will develop over the Bight on Sunday.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayA slight to medium chance of showers in the far west, extending over most parts of the West Coast district, southern Eyre Peninsula and the west of Kangaroo Island, tending to rain west of Nullarbor. Isolated thunderstorms developing west of a line near Nullarbor to Ernabella/Pukatja during the afternoon and evening. Warm to hot in the south, grading to very hot in the north. Moderate to fresh southeast to northeasterly winds, tending fresh south to southeasterly in the west and near the coast.Wednesday 21 FebruaryA slight to medium chance of showers and isolated thunderstorms in the west. Patchy rain extending over western and southern coasts south of a line near Nullarbor to Adelaide to Naracoorte. Warm to hot in the south, grading to very hot in the north with moderate to fresh northeast to southeasterly winds.Thursday 22 FebruaryA slight to medium chance of showers over the North West Pastoral district, West Coast district and the remainder of the agricultural area, tending to rain over the south of the Lower South East district. Isolated thunderstorms developing over the east of the North West Pastoral district and the north of Eyre Peninsula. Warm to hot in the south, grading to very hot in the north. Moderate northeast to northerly winds ahead of a milder, fresh west to southwesterly change in the far west in the morning extending over western districts during the day. Winds strong at times about the west of the West Coast district.Friday 23 February
A slight to medium chance of showers over the agricultural area, West Coasts district and the southwest of the North West Pastoral district. The chance of showers and thunderstorms developing over the Flinders and pastoral districts east of about Ernabella/Pukatja to Port Augusta, apart from the far northeast. Warm to hot in the south, grading to very hot in the north. Moderate northeast to northerly winds ahead of a milder southwesterly change in the west extending throughout during the day the afternoon and evening.
Cumulative rainfall totals until midnight Friday are expected to be generally 2 to 10 mm with possible isolated falls of 10 to 20 mm in the far west of the West Coast district. Falls of 10 to 20 mm are also possible with thunderstorms, increasing to 10 to 40 mm in the far northwest.
Saturday until MondayA slight to medium chance of showers over the southern agricultural area and the West Coast district increasing to medium to high about the southern coasts, Mt Lofty Ranges and the Lower South East. Showers easing and contracting to southern coasts by Monday. Possible thundery showers in the far northeast over the weekend. Generally cool to mild in the south grading to hot in the north, though very hot in the northeast on Saturday. Moderate to fresh southwest to southeasterly winds, becoming east to southeasterly and easing on Monday.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm CDT Tuesday.Product IDS10033
