Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Oct 19/17 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A large high pressure system over the Tasman Sea is moving slowly eastwards. A cold front over central Victoria will reach eastern districts later this evening then clear the State early on Friday. A slow moving high pressure system will then become established over the Bight and extend a ridge across Victoria over the weekend then cross Victoria on Monday.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayScattered showers and local thunderstorms over central and eastern districts contracting to the far east later tonight. Thunderstorms severe at first over north central and northeast Victoria. Showers tending to rain areas over the northeast with heavy falls possible across the northeast ranges. Moderate northerly winds in the east with a cooler southwesterly change over central districts extending throughout this evening.Friday 20 OctoberScattered showers and isolated thunderstorms over the far east clearing during the early morning. Isolated showers across the south, mainly during the morning. Cool and partly cloudy across the south, milder and mostly sunny over the north with moderate to locally fresh southerly winds.Saturday 21 OctoberMostly cloudy in the south with isolated showers. Dry and mostly sunny in the north. Cool to mild with light moderate south to southwesterly winds.Sunday 22 OctoberCloudy with isolated showers over southern and mountain areas. Dry and partly cloudy in the north. Cool to mild with light moderate south to southwesterly winds.Monday 23 OctoberPartly cloudy across the south with isolated showers clearing during the evening. Dry and sunny across the north. Cool to mild with light southwesterly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EDT Friday.Product IDV10310
