MELBOURNE - Oct 19/17 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A strong high pressure system lies over the Tasman Sea, while a trough and associated cold front approach New South Wales from the west. This frontal system will bring rain to the state's south and west today, shifting through central areas and into the northeast during Friday, followed by a cooler southerly change. Behind this, a new high in the Bight will extend a ridge into New South Wales during the weekend, though a trough may linger over the northern inland for a day or two. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayShowers or rain in the west and southeast, reaching central districts later this evening. The chance of a thunderstorm in the west, possibly severe about the Riverina. Fine and partly cloudy in the northeast. Northeast to northwesterly winds, fresh along the coast, with a south to southwesterly extending through the southwest.Friday 20 OctoberRain in northwestern, central and southeastern districts, shifting northeast through the day. The chance of thunderstorms about the central and northern inland. Fine and mostly sunny in the southwest. Daytime temperatures below average in most areas, particularly the northern inland. Northerly winds in the northeast, with a fresh south to southeasterly change extending through the remainder.Saturday 21 OctoberRain in the northeast, mostly clearing by evening. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere, apart from the slight chance of a shower about central parts of the coast. Daytime temperatures mostly below average, especially in the northeast. South to southeasterly winds, fresh along the north coast.Sunday 22 OctoberMostly fine, apart from the chance of a morning shower on the northern coast, and a late shower about central parts of the coast and adjacent ranges. Daytime temperatures generally below average. Southeast to southwesterly winds.Monday 23 OctoberA shower or two about the north coast and northern ranges. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere, apart from the slight chance of a shower about central parts of the coast. Daytime averages below average in the north, and above average across the southern inland.
