MELBOURNE - Sep 19/17 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system over southern New South Wales will move slowly eastwards on Wednesday, reaching the Tasman Sea Wednesday night. A cold front approaching from the west will slide away to the southeast on Thursday, however an associated trough will cross western Victoria during the afternoon and central districts at night. A weak ridge of high pressure will follow across the State on Friday as a cold front approaches from the west. This front will cross the State on Saturday, clearing far eastern districts at night. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayAreas of morning frost and isolated morning fogs then a cool to mild and mostly sunny day. Light winds tending moderate northerly over western and central districts during the day. Afternoon seabreezes along the Gippsland coast.Thursday 21 SeptemberPatchy morning fog and frost in the east. Partly cloudy with isolated showers extending from the west during the morning. The chance of thunderstorms in the south. A mild to warm day with fresh to locally strong northerly winds, shifting southwesterly over western and central parts during the afternoon and evening.Friday 22 SeptemberA generally dry and partly cloudy day although isolated showers developing over the southwest during the afternoon and evening. Cool to mild with light winds and afternoon coastal seabreezes.Saturday 23 SeptemberScattered showers mainly affecting southern and mountain areas, more widespread over the southwest. Isolated thunderstorms.
