MELBOURNE - Sep 19/17 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system [1023 hPa] centred over NSW will move eastwards to be centred over the Tasman Sea by Thursday. A trough of low pressure will move over the far west on Wednesday, then over the rest of the State during Thursday. Another trough will approach the western border late Friday and cross the State during Saturday. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayEarly morning frost patches about parts of the Flinders Ranges and eastern districts. Possible afternoon and evening thunderstorms west of Tarcoola, fine otherwise. Mild to warm in the south grading to hot in the west with light to moderate northeast to northwesterly winds, fresh at times in the west ahead of a cooler, fresh south to southwesterly change over the far west during the afternoon and evening.Thursday 21 SeptemberA slight to medium chance of showers about Kangaroo Island, the Fleurieu Peninsula and the South East districts. Mild to warm in the south grading to hot in the north. Moderate northeast to northwesterly winds, shifting light to moderate south to southwesterly over the west and in the south.Friday 22 SeptemberA slight chance of showers about and the Lower South East and Kangaroo Island, contracting south during the day. Mild to warm in the south grading to hot in the north and west. Generally light winds tending moderate to fresh north to northwesterly in the west during the day ahead of a west to southwesterly change moving across the far west late in the day.Saturday 23 September A slight to medium chance of showers about agricultural areas, increasing to a high chance with possible thunderstorms about Kangaroo Island, the southern Fleurieu Peninsula and the South East districts. Moderate to fresh north to northwesterly winds in the east ahead of a fresh to strong westerly change moving across the entire state by late afternoon. Cumulative rainfall totals until midnight Saturday are expected to be less than 2 mm over northern agricultural areas, increasing to 2 to 10 mm over southern agricultural areas and 10 to 20 mm over the Mount Lofty Ranges and the Lower South East districts. Sunday until TuesdayA slight to medium chance of showers across the agricultural area on Sunday, increasing to a high chance about the southern agricultural area. The slight chance of showers contracting to the southern agricultural area on Monday, then the southern coastal fringe on Tuesday. Moderate to fresh west to southwesterly winds in the south, easing to light to moderate southwest to southeasterly during Monday, then becoming moderate to fresh northeast to northwesterly across the west and north on Tuesday.
