MELBOURNE - Aug 19/17 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system over Victoria will drift away to the northeast today as a cold front and associated low pressure system develops over the Bight. The front and low will weaken as they move across the State on Monday. A ridge of high pressure will extend over Victoria on Tuesday as another front approaches from the southwest. The cold front will cross southern Victoria early Wednesday while the ridge is maintained over the Bight. Forecast for the rest of SundayWidespread morning frost inland, areas severe in the north and west. Local morning fogs. Isolated showers near the Gippsland coast clearing, otherwise a mostly sunny day. Cloud increasing from the west during the afternoon with isolated showers reaching the far west late afternoon, extending to central districts at night and increasing to rain at times over the far west. A cool day with light winds tending northerly across western districts.Monday 21 AugustAreas of morning frost about the east. Scattered showers, contracting to the east and northwest during the day then clearing later. Snowfalls above 900 metres. A cold and mostly cloudy day with mainly moderate northerly winds.Tuesday 22 AugustMorning fog and frost in the north and east. Scattered showers over the southwest with isolated showers extending over southern and mountain districts during the afternoon and evening A cool and mostly cloudy day with light to moderate west to northwesterly winds.Wednesday 23 AugustScattered showers over southern and mountain districts, mainly over the southwest and northeast ranges. Isolated showers extending over the northern plains during the afternoon.
