MELBOURNE - May 26/17 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure ridge to the north of the State will extend over Victoria today. The ridge will move eastwards on Saturday ahead of a strong cold front that reaches far western Victoria on Saturday night. The cold front will sweep across the State early Sunday, with another strong cold front to follow on Tuesday. Forecast for the rest of FridayPartly cloudy. Light to moderate northwesterly wind, fresh about the southwest.Saturday 27 MayEarly fogs in the east. Isolated showers developing over the northern slopes of the Divide during the day. Scattered showers developing in the southwest during the late afternoon and evening, extending eastwards at night and becoming more extensive with isolated showers extending to the north. Isolated thunderstorms possible over the southwest during the evening. Snow possible about the Alpine peaks later at night. A mild day with a freshening northerly wind.Sunday 28 MayScattered showers over southern and mountain districts, most extensive about the eastern ranges and southwest coast. Showers tending isolated over the northwest. Isolated thunderstorms and local hail in the south and east with snowfalls above 1000 metres. A cool to cold day with fresh and gusty westerly winds, strong at times near the coast.Monday 29 MayIsolated showers over southern and mountain districts, tending scattered about the coast and eastern ranges. Snowfalls above 1500 metres. Dry over the north. A cool day with moderate west to northwesterly winds.Tuesday 30 MayScattered showers, most extensive over southern and mountain districts, contracting to the south and eastern ranges in the evening. Isolated thunderstorms and hail on and south of the divide with snowfalls above 1000 metres.
