MELBOURNE - Feb 23/17 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system over the Bight extends a ridge eastwards over southern Victoria. A weak cold front will cross Tasmania during Friday and then the high will pass over southern Tasmania Saturday night. The high will be located over the Tasman Sea during Sunday, Monday and Tuesday and will link to a new high moving well south of the Bight to prevent any cold fronts from approaching Victoria. Forecast for the rest of FridayFine, warm and sunny over the north. Mild and mostly cloudy in the south with drizzle patches contracting to Gippsland during the afternoon and clearing later. Generally moderate to fresh southerly winds.Fire Danger - Moderate to High in the south. High to Very High in the north.Saturday 25 FebruaryDry, warm and sunny over the north. Mild and partly cloudy in the south with drizzle patches contracting to Gippsland during the afternoon. Moderate to locally fresh south to southeasterly winds.Sunday 26 FebruaryFine after morning drizzle patches in Gippsland. Warm and sunny inland with light to moderate east to southeasterly winds. Milder near the coast with fresh to locally strong east to southeasterly winds.Monday 27 FebruaryFine after early fog patches in Gippsland.
