MELBOURNE - Dec 5/16 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A cold front that has recently crossed the State is moving over the Tasman Sea. A high pressure ridge developing over the Bight will extend across Victoria on Tuesday and Wednesday, then move into the Tasman Sea. On Thursday morning a cold front will cross the State, while during Friday a large high will cross the Bight. Forecast for the rest of MondayIsolated showers and thunderstorms in the northeast, clearing later in the evening. The chance of a thunderstorm in the far northwest during the afternoon. Dry and partly cloudy for the remainder. Light to moderate south to southwesterly winds.Tuesday 6 DecemberIsolated showers clearing early in the far northeast. Isolated showers or drizzle also about the east coast and adjacent ranges, clearing during the morning. Fine elsewhere, mostly cloudy in the morning with increasing sunshine during the afternoon. Cool to mild in the south, warmer in the north with light to moderate west to southwesterly winds, tending more southerly along the coast during the afternoon.Fire Danger - Low-moderate, tending high in the north.Wednesday 7 DecemberFine and mostly sunny until isolated showers develop over the far west in the evening. Warm inland with light winds tending northerly. Milder along the coastal fringe with afternoon coastal seabreezes.Thursday 8 DecemberScattered showers and isolated thunderstorms extending across the State during the morning and early afternoon. Storms clearing from the west, showers easing and contracting to the coast. Mild tending warmer in the east, ahead of a cooler, fresh and gusty westerly winds extending throughout.Friday 9 DecemberScattered showers over southern and mountain areas, becoming isolated and contracting to the coast late in the day. Dry in the northwest. Snow showers possible above 1300 metres.
