Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Sep 28/16 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
An intense low 974 hPa near northwestern Kangaroo Island is tracking east to be near the southern Fleurieu Peninsula by mid morning, then near Bordertown by mid afternoon. A high pressure system will move in from the west on Friday and then move east of the State early Saturday, ahead of a trough moving over the west later Saturday and a cold front moving across the State on Sunday.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayAreas of rain with possible thunderstorms across the agricultural area. A high chance of showers over the west coast and south of the pastoral districts. Possible small hail in the far west in the morning. Cool to cold, with strong to gale force west to southwesterly winds about most districts apart from the South East, reaching storm force about the west and south coast of Eyre Peninsula early this morning. Fresh and gusty northerly winds in the southeast, turning easterly and then southerly later.Friday 30 SeptemberA slight to medium chance of showers about the agricultural area and south of the Pastoral districts, increasing to a high to very high chance about central and eastern parts of the agricultural area. Early frost patches in the northwest. Cool with moderate to fresh southwesterly winds, strong to gale force about central coasts in the morning, then strong about southeastern coasts in the afternoon and evening.Saturday 1 OctoberEarly frost patches about the Mid North and Flinders Ranges. A slight chance of showers about the South East during the morning. Mild to warm, grading to hot in the west, with moderate to fresh northerly winds shifting milder west to southwesterly in the west during the day.Sunday 2 October
A slight to medium chance of showers except over the northwest interior, increasing to a high to very high chance over the southern agricultural area. Warm, grading to hot in the far north with fresh to strong north to northwest winds, ahead of a colder fresh to strong west to southwest change extending throughout.
Cumulative rainfall totals until midnight Sunday are forecast to be 10 to 40 mm over the agricultural area, reaching 40 to 80 mm about the Mount Lofty Ranges and 50 to 100 mm through the Mid North.
Monday until WednesdayA high to very high chance of showers over the southern agricultural area and a slight to medium chance over the northern agricultural area, south of the pastorals and far northeast, gradually easing and contracting to a slight chance of showers over the southern agricultural area on Wednesday. Fresh to strong westerly winds in the south, easing mid week.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm CST Thursday.Product IDS10033
