MELBOURNE - Sep 25/16 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system over the west of the State will move eastwards today to be over NSW on Monday, allowing a weak cold front to pass over southern coasts. A more vigorous front is expected to move across the State on Wednesday and Thursday. Forecast for the rest of SundayEarly frost patches in the west. A slight chance of showers over the southern agricultural area, more likely about southern coasts. Cool to mild, grading to warm in the far north and west. Light to moderate southwest to southeasterly winds, turning northeast to northwesterly in the west during the day.Monday 26 SeptemberPatchy rain in the far north. A slight chance of showers south of the Fleurieu Peninsula and Keith. Possible afternoon thunderstorms about the eastern border districts south of about Renmark. Cool to mild in the far south, mild to warm elsewhere. Moderate to fresh east to northeasterly winds in the north and west ahead of a moderate southerly change, tending fresh to strong about coastal areas.Tuesday 27 SeptemberPatchy rain about the northeastern border clearing during the day. Slight chance of showers about southern coasts. Mild generally with mainly light winds.Wednesday 28 September A high to very high chance of showers and possible thunderstorms developing over southern agricultural areas, tending to a slight to medium chance of a shower over Pastoral districts. Remaining fine in the west of the North West Pastoral district. A chance of small hail mainly over Eyre Peninsula later in the day. Mild to warm in the northeast with freshening northerly winds. A colder, fresh to strong west to southwesterly change extending throughout from the west during the day. Cumulative rainfall totals until midnight Wednesday are expected to be quite variable due to the convective nature of Wednesday's cold front. Generally, falls of 2 to 15 mm are possible across much of the State, increasing to 15 to 40 mm possible about the Mt Lofty Ranges and southern coasts. Less than 2 mm is expected over central areas of the Pastoral districts and in the west of the North West Pastoral district. Thursday until SaturdayShowers and winds gradually easing during Thursday. Showers contracting southwards to the Lower South East late in the period.
