MELBOURNE - Aug 28/16 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system over New South Wales will move eastwards to be over Tasman Sea by Monday, then remain slow moving. A deep low southwest of the Bight will weaken as it moves southeastwards across waters to the south of the State during Sunday to Tuesday. Forecast for the rest of SundayAreas of rain in the west extending eastwards reaching a line Marree to Hawker to Clare to Victor Harbor by late evening. Possible isolated thunderstorms in the western districts. Moderate to fresh northerly winds, strong and gusty at times over western districts turning northwesterly and easing in the far west in the late afternoon and evening.Monday 29 AugustAreas of rain extending to most of the State, particularly about the Pastoral districts, contracting eastwards during the day to east of Marree to Kingscote by late evening. Possible thunderstorms within the rain area southwest of about Tarcoola to Mount Gambier. Mild to warm with moderate to fresh northeast to northwesterly winds, tending northwest to westerly in the west.Tuesday 30 AugustAreas of rain east of Marree to Kingscote contracting to the far northeast by late evening. A slight to medium chance of showers with possible thunderstorms to follow over the agricultural area as well as the Flinders and the southern Pastoral districts. Generally mild with mainly moderate northwesterly winds tending west to northwesterly over the west.Wednesday 31 AugustA slight chance of patchy rain about the far northeast clearing during the early morning, then redeveloping about the far north of the State during late evening. A slight to medium chance of showers about the agricultural area, increasing to a high chance about the Lower South East coast. Generally mild with light to moderate west to northwesterly winds tending fresh southerly winds in the west.Thursday 1 September Areas of rain developing about the Pastoral districts, with slight to medium chance of showers over the agricultural area. Possible thunderstorms over the North West Pastoral. Generally cool with moderate to fresh south to southeasterly winds, easing during the afternoon and becoming light and variable in the west. Cumulative rainfall totals until midnight Thursday are expected to be 5 to 15 mm over the far west and Eyre Peninsula, 15 to 25 mm over the remainder, reaching 25 to 50 mm in the northern Pastoral districts. Friday until SundaySlight to medium chance of rain northeast of Marla to Tarcoola to Broken Hill contracting east clearing by Friday afternoon.
