MELBOURNE - Jul 29/16 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A cold front crossing waters south of the Bight will cross Victoria overnight, then a weak ridge of high pressure will pass across the State on Sunday. A stronger cold front and associated upper trough will approach from the west Monday morning and will enter the western half of Victoria later in the day, crossing the remainder of the State overnight and early Tuesday morning. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayA dry morning apart from patches of fog mainly over the north and isolated showers or drizzle about the ranges and over the northeast. Scattered showers extending from the west during the late afternoon and evening. Cool to mild and partly cloudy with northerly winds freshening from the west.Sunday 31 JulyPatchy morning fog in the north. Scattered showers clearing central and eastern districts during the morning but isolated showers persisting near the eastern ranges. Scattered showers also developing in the northwest during the evening. Snow above 1500 metres. A cool to mild day with light to moderate northwesterly winds freshening in the west during the evening.Monday 1 AugustAreas of rain extending throughout although only patchy rain reaching East Gippsland. Rain easing to showers in the west during the afternoon and evening. Local hail and thunder possible in the southwest later. Snow developing about the Alpine peaks during the evening and also above 700 metres in the west later. A cool and mostly cloudy day with a fresh to strong northerly wind turning west to southwesterly from the west during the afternoon and evening.Tuesday 2 AugustScattered showers across southern and mountain areas. Mostly dry across the northern plains. Local hail and thunder contracting east. Snow above 800 metres.
