Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jul 20/16 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A northeast to northwesterly airstream will gradually increase from the west during Thursday, ahead of a vigorous cold front moving across the State on Friday. Another front will move across the State on Sunday.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayEarly morning drizzle patches on and east of the ranges. Morning fog over eastern districts. A slight chance of showers extending across the southern agricultural area in the late afternoon or evening, increasing to a medium to high chance about southern coasts, the southern Mount Lofty Ranges and the Lower South East in the evening. Mild to warm with moderate to fresh northeast to northwesterly winds, shifting cooler southwesterly in the far west.Friday 22 JulyThe slight to medium chance of showers over the northern agricultural area, west coast and south of the pastoral districts, increasing to a high to very high chance over the southern agricultural area. Local heavy falls about the Mount Lofty Ranges. Possible small hail about Kangaroo Island, Fleurieu Peninsula and the South East districts in the evening, with possible thunderstorms in the Lower South East. Warm in the northeast with moderate to fresh northwest winds, ahead of a colder, fresh to strong west to southwesterly change extending throughout, possibly reaching gale force about western coasts.Saturday 23 JulyThe slight to medium chance of showers over the agricultural area and west coast, with possible small hail in the South East district in the morning. Cool to cold throughout, with southwest to northwesterly winds easing.Sunday 24 July
Showers increasing over the agricultural area with a slight chance of showers extending into the south of the pastoral districts. Cool with freshening northwesterly winds, shifting colder fresh to strong west to southwesterly.
Cumulative rainfall totals until midnight Sunday are expected to be 40 to 60 mm over the Mount Lofty Ranges, 20 to 40 mm about southern coasts and 10 to 20 mm over the remainder of the southern agricultural area. 2 to 10 mm over the northern agricultural area and less than 2 mm over the south of the pastoral districts.
Monday until WednesdayShowers easing on Monday, increasing again on Tuesday, then easing on Wednesday. Cool with moderate west to northwest winds, shifting colder south to southwest on Tuesday, then tending westerly again on Wednesday.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm CST Thursday.Product IDS10033
