WASHINGTON - May 10/16 - SNS -- Spring potato production in the United States for 2016 is forecast at 16.7 million cwt (100 pound units), down 18% from 2015, according to the latest USDA crop report.
Planted area is forecast at 52,000 acres, a 5% decrease from the March intentions. Area for harvest is forecast at 50,900 acres, down 26% from the previous year. The average yield forecast, at 328 cwt per acre, is up 32 cwt from 2015.
