MELBOURNE - Feb 11/16 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A ridge of high pressure extends from south of the Bight to the Tasman Sea, while a weak low pressure trough persists over northeast Victoria. A cold front will approach western Victoria later on Saturday then cross the south of the State on Saturday night. On Sunday a high pressure system well west of WA will move slowly eastwards, reaching the Bight on Monday. A low pressure system will then develop near Tasmania later on Monday. Forecast for the rest of FridayLocal early fog in the south and isolated morning drizzle over far East Gippsland. A fine and mostly sunny day apart from the chance of isolated showers and thunderstorms about the eastern ranges in the afternoon. A warm to hot day inland with light winds tending westerly during the afternoon. Milder near the coast with afternoon seabreezes.Fire Danger - High to very high.Saturday 13 FebruaryFine apart from morning fog patches in the south and isolated showers over the southwest later. Warm to hot with moderate to fresh westerly winds shifting cooler southwesterly from the west later.Sunday 14 FebruaryIsolated showers south of the ranges, fine across the north. Mild with light to moderate southwesterly winds, fresh near the coast.Monday 15 FebruaryIsolated morning showers over Gippsland. Isolated showers developing over remaining southern districts in the afternoon but fine across the north.
