MELBOURNE - Nov 25/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A trough of low pressure near Tarcoola to Lameroo will move northeastwards to reach a line near Oodnadatta to Broken Hill late evening. A cold front will move across the south of the State in the evening. A ridge of high pressure will develop near Kangaroo Island later on Thursday and remain near stationary into early next week. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayThe chance of showers over the agricultural area and western coasts, more likely over the southeast districts. The chance of thunderstorms over the South East districts. Possible dry thunderstorms over the North West Pastoral district. Fresh to strong north to northwesterly winds ahead of a milder, fresh to strong southwesterly change near Tarcoola to Lameroo, reaching a line Broken Hill to Oodnadatta late evening. Areas of raised dust over the northern agricultural area and the Flinders and Pastoral districts. Areas of smoke east of the ranges.Thursday 26 NovemberThe slight chance of showers about the northern agricultural area and south of the North East Pastoral district during the morning. Slight chance of showers near southern and western coasts, more likely about the Lower South East Coast with some possible small hail. A slight chance of thundery showers in the far northwest during the afternoon and evening. Hot to very hot in the far northeast with northerly winds shifting fresh southwest to southerly during the day. Cool to mild over the remainder with moderate to fresh southwest to southerly winds, strong at first about central and southern coasts.Friday 27 NovemberThe slight chance of showers about the Lower South East coast and a chance of thundery showers in the far northwest in the afternoon and evening. Mild to warm in the south grading to warm to hot in the north. Moderate southwest to southeasterly winds.Saturday 28 NovemberThe slight chance of showers about the Lower South East coast and a chance of thundery showers in the far northwest in the afternoon and evening. Mild to warm in the south grading to hot to very hot in the north. Moderate southwest to southeasterly winds, tending northeasterly in the west.Sunday 29 November The chance of showers about the Lower South East coast and the chance of showers and thunderstorms developing over the far northwest. Mild to warm about the coast, hot to very hot inland. Generally moderate southeasterly winds. Cumulative rainfall totals until midnight on Sunday are expected to be less than 2 mm, with isolated falls of 2 to 5 mm near southern coasts and in the far west. Most of this rainfall is expected to occur on Wednesday and Thursday. Monday until WednesdayShowers and thunderstorms developing over the Northwest Pastoral and Monday then extending eastwards on Tuesday before contracting to the far northeast on Wednesday. Mild to warm in the south grading to hot in the north, then gradually cooling throughout during the period.
