U.S. National Weekly Rice Summary

LITTLE ROCK - Oct 5/15 - SNS -- The latest weekly rice market summary for the United States was released by the USDA today.

                             Domestic Trend
   In the south, long and medium grain milled rice prices mostly steady.  Parboiled,
Second heads and Brewers rice prices mostly steady.  Rice by-products:  Rice Bran,
Millfeed and ground hull prices mostly steady to firm on limited spot sales.
According to NASS as of Oct 4, Louisiana 99%, Texas 99%, Mississippi 87% and Arkansas
84% harvest completed.  Throughout the south the field yields are very uneven from
farm to farm also resulting in mixed milling yields and quality.  As the rough rice
futures continue to rally and the market tries to find a top, farmer's asking prices
also continue to rise.
   In California, medium grain milled rice prices mostly steady.  Second heads and
Brewers rice prices mostly steady.  Rice by-products:  Rice Bran prices mostly
steady; ground hull prices not well tested.  Majority are hoping for fall to bring
much need moisture.  According to NASS as of Oct 4, 40% of the rice crop has been
harvested.
   CME Rough Rice settlements for Friday Oct 2nd, Nov 15 closed .05 lower at 13.25;
Jan 16 closed .05 lower at 13.53; Mar 16 closed .04 lower at 13.80.  US dollar index
on Friday settled at 95.92.
