MELBOURNE - Oct 5/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A large high pressure system is drifting slowly eastwards over the northern Tasman Sea, while a cold front will move over the Bight later on Monday. The front will strengthen and reach southwestern Victoria later Tuesday morning, then push across central and southern areas of the State during the afternoon to reach the far northeast Tuesday night. The next high pressure system will track eastwards crossing south of the Bight to be just west of Tasmania by Wednesday night and then over the Tasman Sea on Thursday. Forecast for the rest of MondayMostly clear with moderate to fresh north to northwesterly winds, strengthening in the southwest during the evening.Tuesday 6 OctoberHot with cloud increasing cloud from the west, fresh to strong and gusty north to northwesterly winds. A cooler, gusty southwesterly change reaching the far west in the morning, extending across central areas and western Gippsland in the afternoon then reaching the far east in the evening. Only isolated showers to follow the change over the southwest in the evening.Wednesday 7 OctoberDry and partly cloudy, tending more overcast at times in the north. A mild day with moderate southerly winds, fresh in the far southeast at first.Thursday 8 OctoberDry and mostly sunny apart from isolated afternoon showers about the eastern ranges. Warm in the north. Mild in the south with light to moderate easterly winds.Friday 9 OctoberIsolated afternoon thundery showers over inland central and eastern parts. Remaining dry and mostly sunny for the remainder, a warm day tending hot in the northwest.
