MELBOURNE - Oct 3/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system over northeastern New South Wales will maintain a strong ridge along the east coast of Queensland over the next few days. The high will remain almost stationary over the long weekend. Forecast for the rest of SundayFine and sunny through much of the state with only a slight to medium chance of showers about the east coast north of about Mackay. Light winds over the far south, moderate to fresh east to southeasterly winds elsewhere.Fire Danger - Severe over the Northwest district, Very High over the central and southeast inland.Monday 5 OctoberThe high over the western reaches of the Tasman Sea will maintain the ridge along Queensland's east coast. Fine and mostly sunny through the majority of the state as a result, with showers restricted to the central and northeast coasts.Tuesday 6 OctoberThe high will move eastwards across the Tasman Sea on Tuesday. Fine and mostly sunny across most of the state. A slight to medium chance of showers about the east coast in the onshore flow.Wednesday 7 OctoberThe ridge should remain along the east coast, and dry air should remain over the interior, maintaining fine and sunny conditions across most of the state. Just some showers along the eastern tropical coast in an onshore flow.Thursday until SaturdayA new high pressure system will move gradually across southeast Australia, extending a new, firm ridge along Queensland's east coast, and pushing showers onto the far eastern districts.
