MELBOURNE - Sep 5/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system over Victoria extends a weak ridge up the east coast of Queensland. A new high pressure system will enter the Great Australian Bight on Monday, pushing a cold front across southern Queensland on Monday and Tuesday. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayClear across most of Queensland except for the slight to medium chance of showers about the southeast. Light to moderate southwesterly to southeasterly winds.Sunday 6 SeptemberFine and sunny across the state except for of the state. A mainly moderate chance of showers about the state's southeast, and the slight to moderate chance of showers along and near the coast further north to about Bowen. The slight chance of some showers too about Cape York Peninsula. Light to moderate southwest to northwesterly winds across most of the state. Light to moderate southeast to northeasterly winds about the eastern districts.Monday 7 SeptemberThe high pressure system is expected to weaken over the Tasman Sea while a new, stronger high moves into the Great Australian Bight. An upper trough and a surface trough are expected to move eastwards across southern Queensland, bringing showers and perhaps some storms to the southeastern interior. The slight to moderate chance of showers for most of the east coast.Tuesday 8 SeptemberThe high in the Great Australian Bight is expected to push the surface trough across Queensland's southeast, with a slight to medium chance of showers and perhaps some isolated storms ahead of it over the region. There's also the slight to medium chance of showers about the remainder of the east coast in a developing onshore flow. Fine and mostly sunny over the interior.Wednesday 9 SeptemberThe high should drift across southeast Australia, maintaining fine and sunny conditions across most of Queensland except for the slight chance of some showers about the showers will be confined to the east coast where southeasterly winds will bring moisture onshore.
