MELBOURNE - Aug 2/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation An upper trough affecting northern and eastern Victoria will clear eastwards today as a cold front crosses Tasmania. A stronger cold front will follow across Victoria early on Monday and yet another front will cross the State on Wednesday. Forecast for the rest of SundayMorning fog patches over the north. Generally cloudy with patchy rain over the north and east gradually clearing eastwards. Isolated showers about the southwest coast during the morning, extending to most remaining southern and mountain districts during the afternoon. Snowfalls above 1500 metres lowering to 1200 metres. Cool to cold with moderate to fresh west to northwesterly winds extending throughout and becoming strong at times near the coast.Monday 3 AugustWidespread showers over southern and eastern areas with local hail. The chance of thunderstorms about the Gippsland coast. Isolated showers developing across the northwest. Snowfalls down to 500 metres over Gippsland, but generally 800 metres elsewhere. A cold day with moderate to fresh and gusty southwesterly winds extending throughout early in the morning, strong at times about the coast and the eastern ranges.Tuesday 4 AugustWidespread morning frosts. Cloudy periods with scattered showers on and south of the divide. Partly cloudy with the chance of an afternoon shower over the northern plains. Snow showers above 900 metres. Cool to cold with moderate westerly winds, fresh at times near the coast.Wednesday 5 AugustWidespread showers over southern and eastern areas but only isolated showers over the northern plains. Showers falling as snow above 900 metres at first, but lowering to 600 metres. Local hail and thunder over the southeast.
