MELBOURNE - Jul 5/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A small low pressure system west of Tasmania and associated cold front will move eastwards and the front will enter western Victoria today but will weaken tonight. The low will sit just west of Victoria today then it too will weaken before sliding southwards later on Tuesday. A high pressure system will pass well south of Tasmania during today and Tuesday to lie over the southern Tasman Sea on Wednesday and a ridge will extend northwards from this high to the New south wales coast. Another weakening low and cold front will approach western Victoria on Thursday. Forecast for the rest of MondayScattered showers extending from the west but only isolated showers reaching the far north and Gippsland. The chance of thunderstorms over the far southwest. Snowfalls developing above 1200 metres in the afternoon. Cool to cold and a mostly cloudy day with a moderate northerly wind, locally fresh over central areas and tending northwest to westerly over the west.Tuesday 7 JulyMorning fog patches in the north. Isolated showers in the west and southeast but mainly dry over central areas and the north. Light snowfalls possible above 1300 metres. A cool to cold day with chiefly light winds.Wednesday 8 JulyMorning fog patches. Isolated showers possible about the dividing range but otherwise a dry partly cloudy day. Cool to cold with light to moderate north to northeasterly winds.Thursday 9 JulyMorning fog patches. Isolated showers possible on and north of the dividing range but dry in the south.
