MELBOURNE - Jul 4/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system over southeastern Australia will shift slowly northwards during Sunday, maintaining a ridge into southern Queensland and along the east tropical coast. A new high pressure centre will develop across the south of the continent next week, extending a ridge into much of Queensland. Onshore winds will lead to some showers about the east coast, mostly in the tropics. The ridge will maintain a dry airmass through the interior throughout the forecast period, with cool mornings and some early frosts likely in the south of the state. Forecast for the rest of SundayThe slight chance to medium chance of showers about the east coast north of about Brisbane, increasing to a high chance about the north tropical coast. Fine and sunny through the interior with the chance of possible early frost patches over the southern interior. Moderate to fresh southeasterly winds about the east coast. Light winds elsewhere.Monday 6 JulyThe high centre over the Tasman Sea will weaken as a new high shifts east over southern Australia. Conditions will remain fine and mostly sunny over the interior and in the far southeast of the state. Early frost patches remain possible over the southern interior, particularly on the Granite Belt. The slight to medium chance of showers will persist about the east coast north of Fraser Island in an onshore wind flow.Tuesday 7 JulyThe new high will shift east into southeastern Australia and become slow moving while another high centre will develop over the far southern Tasman Sea. Fine and mostly sunny conditions will extend across much of the state, with just the slight chance of a shower near the northeast tropical coast in an onshore wind flow. Some early frost remains likely in the Darling Downs and Granite Belt district.Wednesday 8 JulyThe high centres will shift further east, extending a firm ridge along the east coast of Queensland. A trough will move north from New South Wales into southern Queensland waters, with winds gradually tending more onshore and resulting in the slight chance of a shower near the southern Queensland coast. The slight chance of a shower will also persist about the northeast tropical coast. Fine and mostly sunny conditions will continue elsewhere. Some early frosts are likely over the southern and southeast interior.Thursday until SaturdayThe high should shift further east across the Tasman Sea during the outlook period with the ridge along the east coast gradually weakening. A trough will most likely enter the west of the state late on Thursday and move eastwards across the state on Friday before clearing off the central and southern coast on Saturday. The trough may generate some showers or thunderstorms with its passage, particularly over the southern interior and southeast of the state. The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Sunday.Product IDQ10700 Notice Board MetEye extended into Queensland --> Cairns (Saddle Mountain) Radar reinstalled Rainfall Forecast Terminology Media Releases Marketing Meteorological Offices Cairns weather Charleville weather Longreach weather Mackay weather Mount Isa weather Rockhampton weather Townsville weather Weipa weather Other Information Fire Weather Forecast Areas About Weather Forecast Services About Warning Services Warnings Water Climate Environment Tropical Cyclones Tsunami Warning Centre Agriculture - Water and the Land Marine & Ocean UV & Sun Protection Rainfall & River Conditions Graphical Views Radar Maps Rainfall Forecasts Seasonal Outlooks Climate Variability & Change Climate Data Online Seasonal Streamflow Forecasts Water Storage MetEye™ National Weather Services Aviation Weather Services Defence Services Space Weather Services Registered User Services Commercial Weather Services Business Entry Point Facebook Twitter Youtube Blog Google+ Careers Sitemap Feedback Freedom of Information Indigenous Weather Knowledge Glossary This page was created at 03:15 on Sunday 5 July 2015 (GMT) © Copyright Commonwealth of Australia 2015, Bureau of Meteorology (ABN 92 637 533 532) | Disclaimer | Privacy | Accessibility var hostname = window.location.hostname; var host = hostname.split("."); if (host[0] == "reg") var _gaq = _gaq || []; _gaq.push(['_setAccount', 'UA-20386085-1']); _gaq.push(['_trackPageview']); else if (host[0] == "wdev") var _gaq = _gaq || []; _gaq.push(['_setAccount', 'UA-21709175-1']); _gaq.push(['_trackPageview']); else var _gaq = _gaq || []; _gaq.push(['_setAccount', 'UA-3816559-1']); _gaq.push(['_trackPageview']); (function() { var ga = document.createElement('script'); ga.type = 'text/javascript'; ga.async = true; ga.src = ('https:' == document.location.protocol ?
