Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - May 26/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high near the New South Wales coast will weaken as it drifts towards New Zealand today. A new high pressure system will move eastwards into the Great Australian Bight late in the week, pushing a cold front slowly across Queensland's far southern districts during the weekend.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdaySlight to medium chance of showers about the east coast and the nearby interior. Fine and mostly sunny over most of the rest of the state except for partly cloudy but dry conditions in the southern interior. Light to moderate east to southeast winds.Thursday 28 MayA weak onshore flow should result in a slight to moderate chance of showers about the parts of the east coast. Fine and mostly sunny over the remainder of the state except the southern interior where it will remain cloudy at times though still dry.Friday 29 MayA cold front will enter the far southwest of the state during the day, but there's only the slight chance of light showers with it near the South Australian border. Showers generally easing about the east coast as the onshore flow weakens, though there will still be the mainly slight chance of showers about the far eastern tropics.Saturday 30 MayA new high in the Great Australian Bight will slowly push the cold front further east across the southern interior. The slight to moderate chance of showers near the front over the southern interior, assisted to a degree by a weak upper level trough. The slight chance of some showers over the Darling Downs and Granite Belt and Southeast Coast district ahead of the cold front. The slight to medium chance of showers about the tropical east coast. Fine and sunny elsewhere in the state.Sunday until TuesdayThe high in the Great Australian Bight will push the cold front slowly eastwards across Queensland's southern districts, producing showers across the southern reaches of the state on Sunday and Monday, before clearing off the southeast coast by Tuesday. Fine and mostly sunny across the remainder of the state except for the slight chance of some showers about the tropical east coast and far northwest.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Wednesday.Product IDQ10700
