Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - May 26/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system over the New South Wales coast will move eastwards over the Tasman Sea during Wednesday. A weakening cold front crossing Bight waters will brush the southwest coast of Victoria this afternoon then slide away to the southeast but a second stronger cold front will cross Bight waters. This front will enter the southwest of the State early on Thursday afternoon and reach the far east Thursday night. A weak high pressure ridge will extend across northern Victoria on Friday then more cold fronts will generate south of the Bight, the first of which should affect southern Victoria on Saturday.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayIsolated showers, scattered in the southwest this afternoon but clearing from the northwest. A cool to mild and partly cloudy day with light to moderate north to northwesterly winds, fresh at times over the southwestern and central districts.Thursday 28 MayScattered showers mainly about the southwest and northeast ranges. Isolated showers in the remainder. A cool day with moderate to locally fresh northwesterly tending westerly from the west later.Friday 29 MayScattered showers, mainly in southern and mountain districts, falling as snow on the alpine peaks. Cool to cold day with moderate to fresh westerly to northwesterly winds.Saturday 30 MayScattered showers, mainly in the southwest and about the northeast ranges, falling as snow above 1400 metres. Cool to cold with fresh to strong northwesterly winds, shifting southwesterly from the west later.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Wednesday.Product IDV10310
