U.S. National Weekly Rice Summary

LITTLE ROCK - May 18/15 - SNS -- The latest weekly rice market summary for the United States was released by the USDA today.

                             Domestic Trend
   In the south, long and medium grain milled rice prices steady.  Parboiled, Second
heads and Brewers rice prices steady.  Rice by-products:  rice bran, millfeed and
ground hull prices steady to weak.  According to NASS as of May 17, new crop planting
progress is as follows LA 98%, TX 79%, MS 93% and AR 89%.  New crop emerged is as
follows LA 92%, TX 75%, MS 72% and AR 73%.  All states are at or above par with
averages for both categories, except TX.
   In California, medium grain milled rice prices steady.  Second heads and Brewers
rice prices steady.  Rice by-products:  rice bran prices steady; ground hull prices
not fully established.  According to NASS as of May 17, California shows 90% planted
and 50 % emerged.  Farmers in this state are way ahead of schedule and average
percentages.
   CME Rough Rice settlements for Friday May 15th, Jly 15 closed .06 lower at 9.575;
Sep 15 closed .045 lower at 9.845; Nov 15 closed .04 lower at 10.095.  US dollar
index on Friday settled at 93.23.
