U.S. National Weekly Rice Summary

LITTLE ROCK - May 11/15 - SNS -- The latest weekly rice market summary for the United States was released by the USDA today.

                 (Arkansas-Louisiana-Texas-California)
                             Domestic Trend
   In the south, long and medium grain milled rice prices mostly steady, few in
Arkansas medium grain trending 2.00 lower.  Parboiled prices mostly steady. Second
heads and Brewers rice prices steady to 1.00 lower.  Rice by-products:  rice bran
prices mostly steady few 5.00 lower; millfeed prices mostly steady few 5.00-10.00
lower and ground hulls prices steady.  According to NASS as of May 10, new crop
planting progress is as follows LA 93%, TX 78%, MS 82% and AR 86%.  New crop emerged
is as follows LA 85%, TX 72%, MS 61% and AR 53%.
   In California, medium grain milled rice prices steady.  Second heads and Brewers
rice prices steady.  Rice by-products:  rice bran prices steady; ground hull prices
not fully established.  Drought conditions still exist with water restrictions in
place throughout the state.  According to NASS as of May 10, California shows 75%
planted which is above the average and 30 % emerged.
   CME Rough Rice settlements for Friday May 8th, May 15 closed .04 higher at 9.505;
Jly 15 closed .045 higher at 9.74; Sep 15 closed .04 higher at 10.005.  US dollar
index on Friday settled at 94.82.
